"In this time when violence hides behind lies and dominates the world more sinisterly than ever before, I nevertheless remain convinced that truth, peacefulness and love, gentleness and goodness are the violence that is above all violence. They will own the world if only enough people think and live the thoughts of love and truth, of gentleness and peacefulness purely and constantly enough.
All ordinary violence in this world creates a limit for itself, because it generates a counter-violence that will sooner or later be equal or superior to it. Kindness, however, works simply and constantly. It does not create tensions through which it cancels itself out, but rather it eases existing tensions, it eliminates mistrust and misunderstandings. By awakening kindness, it reinforces itself. That is why it is the most effective and intense force. The kindness a person puts out into the world works on people's hearts and minds. Our foolish fault is that we do not dare to take kindness seriously. We want to carry the great burden again and again without making use of this lever that can multiply our strength a hundredfold.
There is an immeasurably profound truth in the words of Jesus: "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."
